The rights of Americans should not be limited by where in the country we live. From Maine to Washington, DC, Americans have served their country and all Americans should have equal rights and an equal say. Wouldn’t you agree?
Why Statehood?
1. DC residents fulfill all of the obligations of US citizenship and yet are denied representation.
2. DC is large enough to be a state. DC is home to over 700,000 people, more than Vermont and Wyoming.
3. Washington, DC can afford to be a state
4. DC now operates as if it were a state with the exception of federal control over our courts and people in prison for committing felonies in DC.
5. DC residents pay the highest per-capita federal income taxes in the US.
6. DC residents pay more in total federal income tax than residents of 22 other states, but have no say over how those tax dollars are spent.
7. DC residents have contributed to this nation just like residents of all other states. More than 11,000 DC Residents currently serving in the military can be sent to war to fight for American values, but do not have full voting rights in their own place of residence.

WE ALL WORK HARD, AND WE DESERVE TO BE HEARD.
