De Montfort University Appoints U.S. Bank on New Debt Capital 
Market Funding

The London office of U.S. Bank Global Corporate Trust Services
has recently been appointed as Trustee and Paying Agent on De
Montfort University's (DMU) GBP 110 million bond issue - the
first such public bond issue by a UK university since 1998.

Raising funds through a public bond issue in the debt capital
markets is a novel step for a UK university; the most recent
precedent being a bond issue made by the University of Greenwich
in 1998. However, DMU's bond issue follows in the footsteps of
other public sector and quasi-public sector entities, such as the
Greater London Authority and housing associations which opted to
obtain funding through the debt capital markets, given various
banks' constraints and decreased government funding.

Global Corporate Trust Services becomes Main Sponsor of the
