Be Prepared
College dorm life is truly a living experience like no other. If you've never lived in a
dorm, there are a few things to think about prior to packing your bags.
Pack the true essentials. Alarm clock - you don't want to be late for class; extra lighting -
for those late night cramming sessions; bulletin board - keep track of social activities too!
Remember: Dorm storage/space is very limited.
Know where the laundry room is located and how to use a washer and dryer. Pizza stains really
do come out, but you may have to budget for this expense.
Bring bedding and your favorite pillow. Check with your school to verify the size of your
new bed.
Leave Fluffy or Fido at home. Pets - with the possible exception of fish - are generally not
allowed.
Take advantage of the opportunity to learn about other personalities. Sharing a room will
be a growing process for you.
Stay in touch the smart way. A friendly voice from home is just a phone call away, but be
sure to check the charges involved.
