Norman Commits To Australian PGA
|
Organizers of the Cadbury Schweppes Australian PGA
Championship sent journalists running for their
history books when they announced the field for
this year's event. Adam Scott, defending champion,
Peter Senior, Craig Parry, Michael Campbell and
the prospect of old foes, Greg Norman, Corey Pavin
and Stephen Leaney meeting again, whet the
appetites of golfing historians. Norman won the
1984 Australian PGA Championship by a whopping
eight shots and earned $27,000 for the victory. In
that event, two decades ago, Norman closed with a
69 and lapped the field at Monash Country Club in
Sydney. In a marvelous moment on the final green,
Norman scooped up his blue-eyed two-year-old
daughter, Morgan-Leigh and carried her off in his
arms to the clubhouse where he signed his card.
