The HP Mobile Photo Restoration Vehicle, outfitted with PCs, scanners, printers and Internet connection, was dispatched to New Orleans.

Once there, a Photo Restoration Command Post was set up in St Bernard Parish.

Starting late on February 21, over 50 families showed up and more than 300 photos were scanned and saved. The HP team scanned the damaged photos using three HP ScanJet 4890 scanners. Next, the photos were uploaded to a database accessed by a worldwide team of 300 photo-restoration experts, who quickly went to work fixing the photos.

Once the photos were restored, they were downloaded by the onsite team and printed using an HP Photosmart 8750, two HP 3310 All-in-Ones, HP Photosmart 385 and 475 Compact photo printers.

In the end, the saved photos were printed on archival paper, framed and presented to the affected families to cherish again, on into the future.
