Visa has recently informed Elan Financial Services of a limited number of acceptance problems related to a small number of payment cards that include a holographic magnetic stripe. The holographic magnetic stripe is a feature of many newly designed Visa cards. In a small number of cases, static electricity from cards with holographic magnetic stripes has interfered with card use at point-of-sale terminals, preventing transactions from taking place. While Elan Financial Services has not experienced any problems, we want to alert you to any issue that has the potential to impact your cardmembers' ability to use their card where and when they choose. In order to comply with Visa and to ensure your clients do not experience problems in the future, we will discontinue the issuance of cards with the holographic magnetic strip. Until new cards are made available from Visa, Elan will continue to distribute from the current stock. Plastic issuance will not be disrupted. These new cards will have the new Visa Brand Mark on the card front, with a conventional magnetic stripe on the card back and the familiar "Dove Design" hologram feature. Your cardmembers may continue to use their current cards. We apologize for any concerns this may raise.
