Crafting with your little one... What a fun idea! Until you sit down to paint up a masterpiece and they’re over it before the supplies are laid out. You need something that’s fast to set up, fast to do and fast to clean up — and even more importantly, inexpensive! With the exception of drying time, these sun catchers fit the bill.
Shop at Dollar Tree — Here’s What You’ll Need:
- White Glue
- Food Coloring
- Plastic Lids (like from tubs of Cream Cheese or Sour Cream)
- Toothpick
Easy Step-by-Step Directions:
- Protect the surface of your table with a plastic tablecloth or paper.
- Fill a plastic lid with white glue.
- Drip 2-3 drops of food coloring in the glue. Don’t use a lot, the color spreads as the glue dries.
- Drag the toothpick through the blobs of color.
- Let sit for a few days. Drying times can vary based on temperature and humidity. For speedier drying, we left ours under a heat vent! The glue will begin to peel away from the lid when it is dry.
- Punch or cut a hole in the sun catcher and hang in a sunny window!
- Optional: Trim the edges of the sun catcher or cut into a fun shape!
