Paper Fortune Cookie Favors

Paper Fortune Cookie Favors

Here’s a batch of “cookies” you’ll love to share! Once you get the hang of the folding, you’ll be creating them for everything... and writing special messages for bridal showers, weddings, baby showers, and birthday parties. Sneak one into a lunch bag or someone’s desk. Another fun idea is to gift someone a pretty jar full of them with a note to open one on every day they need a little cheer (perfect for birthdays, a college student going away to school, or for an out-of-town friend). We see lots of sharing in your future...

Easy Step-by-Step Directions:

  1. Write or print fortunes on white paper. Cut into thin 4" strips. If you need ideas, search for “fortune cookie sayings” on the Internet, or customize the messages to your event.
  2. Cut 3.5" - 4" circles out of your decorative paper (we used a pint glass as a template). (see image #1).
  3. Bend each circle in half and pinch just the center to crease. Open the circles back up. (see image #2)
  4. Run a small dab (about 2-3 inches worth) of glue around the edge of each circle, perpendicular to the crease. Lay your fortune in the center, also perpendicular to the crease, and loosely fold the circle over it, gluing the edge in place. (see image #3)
  5. Hold with a clothespin until dry. (see image #4)
  6. Grasping the ends of the straight, folded edge with your thumb and middle finger, gently apply pressure to the crease with your index finger and bend into the fortune cookie shape. (see image #5)
  7. If a cookie won’t stay closed, put a little drop of glue in the fold to secure it in place.
