Ivy P. from Lewiston, ME, submitted her idea for PB&J Cookies for September’s “Cooks Challenge” Contest. Ivy’s recipe was voted as the Grand Prize winner! With a couple of items from Dollar Tree and a few easy steps, you can recreate these yummy cookies for your friends and family... you’ll soon see why these were the winner!
Shop at Dollar Tree — Here’s What You’ll Need:
- Peanut Butter Cookie Mix (and ingredients listed
on the package) - Vegetable Oil
- Jelly, Jam, or Marshmallow Cream
- Water
Easy Step-by-Step Directions:
- Preheat oven and prepare cookie mix as directed on the package.
- Form your dough into balls, then flatten into circles on your cookie sheet.
- Use a spoon to push down and create an indent on your cookie (almost like a mini pie-shell shape). You want to create a “nook” for the jelly to sit in.
- Place the cookies in the oven.
- The cookies will puff up during baking, so half-way through the baking time, remove the cookies and “re-nook” them with your spoon. Place them back in the oven.
- After the cookies have finished baking, fill the nooks with the jelly, jam, or marshmallow cream.
Fun Tip:
- Save time and the mess of trying to neatly spoon in the jelly by filling a sandwich bag with jelly, cutting off one of the corers, then using the bag to neatly pipe the jelly onto the cookie.
