Plus, their possibilities are limitless... use them to line the sidewalk to the party house, plant them in buckets to decorate your spot on the sidelines or at tailgate parties, use a bouquet of them as a centerpiece for a buffet table, carry some during the game to cheer on your team, or just make them with the kids for a fun rainy day activity. Whatever your occasion, you’ll soon discover that they’re as much fun to make as they are to play with!
Shop at Dollar Tree — Here’s What You’ll Need:
- Construction Paper
- Colorful Thumbtacks
- Small Beads, Optional (with holes large enough to poke the thumbtack through)
- Pencils
- Scissors
Easy Step-by-Step Directions:
- Cut a square out of construction paper (we made ours 5"). Fun Tip: cut two squares in contrasting colors for a two-tone effect!
- Fold the square in half diagonally, and then fold it diagonally again so that when you open it up, you have scored an “x” in the paper, dividing the square into four equal triangles.
- Cut along each diagonal line, stopping about 1/3 of the way from the center.
- Bring every other corner to the center of the square and poke your thumbtack through (be careful not to poke yourself). If it helps, you can use a little piece of tape to secure each point.
- Thread a small bead onto the thumbtack at the back of the pinwheel (this step is optional, but it does help the pinwheel spin more freely).
- Carefully poke the thumbtack into the eraser of a pencil.
