Every year the kids look forward to an Easter basket filled will candy and goodies. Every year, they get the same thing... but not this year! Kids' favorites seem to change all the time, so this year choose a theme to
customize their basket to fit what they are into now.
Here are some simple ideas and themes that you can
take and run with to make your child's Easter basket
one of a kind.
First, the Basics to Any Basket:
- Theme:
Think about the things that your little one is into and how you can work that into a basket idea. This can be as simple as a favorite color, or as elaborate as spa accessories if they enjoy painting nails and styling hair!
- Container:
We carry a wide variety of traditional and creative baskets for just $1 each, but you could also think outside the basket! Use a container that matches your theme such as colorful plastic totes, straw hats, plastic storage boxes, or ceramic pots.
- Bottom Filler:
Easter grass is one of the most popular choices and we carry several colorful styles. Or, try something a little different such as paper shreds, cotton balls, bead necklaces, a new T-shirt, etc.
- Candy and Gifts: You know what kinds of treats your kids love the best. Plastic eggs are a staple, and you can stuff them with small toys, small candy, or even a dollar or two. Plus you can add fun toys and little games, stuffed animals, and a variety of other gifts to match your theme.
Fun Theme Ideas:
- Animal Lover's Basket
- Choose one of our plastic baskets that features pictures of chicks and bunnies.
- Fill the bottom of the basket with green Easter grass or brown natural-colored paper shreds to look like hay.
- For goodies, a chocolaty bunny or duck is a must, plus add a few plastic or stuffed animals, chick and bunny themed plastic toys, chick bubbles, bunny ears headband, bunny Peeps®, and real dyed eggs to go along with the plastic eggs.
- Spa Theme (Great for Teens)
- Choose a cute basket in pastel colors.
- Use iridescent Easter grass to add some color, or plastic beaded necklaces for a more fashionable look.
- In addition to some favorite candy, add nail polish, nail polish remover, emery boards, lotion, bath salts, microfiber hand towels, eye masks, and hair styling products.
- Artist's Basket
- Use a plastic storage container that can double as a storage box for art supplies.
- Fill with Easter grass, colored paper shreds, or unraveled crepe paper streamers.
- Add art supplies such as modeling clay, colored pencils, construction paper, crayons, markers, sketch pads, paint and brushes, glue, glitter, stickers, coloring books, scissors, and more. Plus, don't forget some sweet treats.
- Sports Lovers
- Make a backboard out of foam board or poster board and attach it to a round mesh wire basket to create the look of a basketball hoop.
- Fill it with floral moss (to look like field turf), or their favorite sports jersey.
- In addition to candy, add some salty snacks and Gatorade, plus small toy balls, foam footballs, flying disks, or even a plastic bat and ball set.
- Gardener's Basket
- Use a plastic planter, ceramic flower pot, or metal planter as your basket.
- Use floral moss or green Easter grass as filler.
- Add gardening gloves, a small garden shovel, a kneeling pad, or wind chimes. Include one or two of our plush flowers for a whimsical touch, plus some Easter candy.
- Princess Basket
- Start with our colorful bamboo basket with frilly lace trim.
- Use pink or purple iridescent Easter grass to fill the bottom of the basket, or try some metallic beaded necklaces.
- Add all the royal accessories a princess would need, such as fairy wings, a tiara, satin gloves, a princess wand, jewelry, and lip gloss. Don't forget the sweet treats, such as candy-filled eggs, jelly beans, and more.
